smile even tho your heart is breaking

She says;

After all that has been said and done,
He's still the one that I love.
At times, I question if it is all worth it and is this what love is all about?
I thought I knew him and I want to believe that I still know that person that is him.

I am taking chances.
Chances that I know if not taken care of
will be broken and my heart will be torn to pieces again.
It scares me but faith they said.
Have FAITH.

I know that he's trying.
I know he's hurt too...
But at times, it has to be about me..
It has to be about us....
It's about TIME?

I hope that he's "listening" but for now,
I guess, I'll just pacify myself....

Natalie Cole
Smile Lyrics
:
"Smile"

Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...

If you smile
With your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just...

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just...

Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...

If you smile
Through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile...

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Why halal??

She says;

Since today's Hari Raya Haji,
and some acquaintance wants to know how and what is required during the sacrifice, here are some of the pointers;

Rules Regarding the Animal to be Sacrificed
1. The animal has to be one of the cattle approved by the Sharia (Cow, Camel, Goat, Sheep etc.)
2. The animal has reached the required age. The adult age is: (a) One year for a goat, sheep, lamb (b) Two years for a cow (c) Five years for a camel.
3. The animal is free from an obvious defect like a one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious, a sick animal whose sickness is obvious, a lame animal whose limp is obvious and an emaciated animal that has no marrow in its bones
4. The animal is in full possession of the one who is offering the sacrifice; i.e. it is not stolen or taken by force, not of joint possession or held in pledge
5. The animal cannot be sold or given away once selected or bought for sacrifice, unless exchanging for something better.

Rules Related to the Person offering the Sacrifice
1. Being a Muslim
2. It is necessary for the one who intends to offer the sacrifice that he does not remove any hair or nail from the sunset on last day of Zhul-Qa’dah until the sacrifice is done on the Eid day
3. Doing the slaughter with one’s own hands. If one is not able to do so then he can appoint some one else to do the slaughter on his behalf. In such case one should witness his slaughter if at all possible.
4. It is a necessary condition of the sacrifice that the animal be slaughtered with the intention of offering a sacrifice (udhiyah). The intention must be in the heart, and should not be spoken out loud.
5. Taking the Name of Allah at the time of slaughter.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha!!

She says;

YEAY!!
Tomorrow's Hari Raya Aidiladha!!

'Idul-Adha, (Festival of Sacrifice) occurs on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah,
the twelfth month in the Arabic calendar.
This festival acknowledges Abraham's (Ibrihim's) willingness to obey God's (Allah's) command to Abraham to sacrifice Ishmael, his only son.
The celebration of 'Idul-Adha has the following components:

  • Recite the Takbir ("God is Great") before prayer on the first day and after prayers on each of the succeeding three days of the festival
  • Celebrants wear their best clothes
  • Sacrifice an animal for food or donate money for the purchase of food and share with the poor so that no one goes hungry

NIKE - I Like this ....

You pretended the snooze button didn’t exist.
You dragged your butt out of bed while others slept.
While others ate their pancakes, you had a feast of protein, glucose and electrolytes.
You double-knotted.
You left the porch light on and locked the door behind you.
You ran. 5ks, 10ks, 26.2 miles. Some days more, some days less.
You rewarded a long run with a short run.
And a short run with a long run.
Rain tried to slow you.
Sun tried to microwave you.
Snow made you feel like a warrior.
You cramped.
You bonked.
You paid no mind to comfort.
On weekends.
On holidays.
You made excuses to keep going.
Questioned yourself.
Played mind games.
Put your heart before your knees.
Listened to your breathing.
Sweat sunscreen into your eyes.
Worked on your farmer’s tan.
You hit the wall.
You went through it.
You decided to be a man about it.
You decided to be a woman about it.
Finished what you started.
Proved what you were made of.
Just kept putting mile after mile on your internal odometer.
How much farther will you go?
As far as you can.

Just do it. – NIKE

Long Weekend!! ;)

She says;

It has been an awesome week. :)
With another holiday tomorrow, just makes it even better!

The Hindus are celebrating Deepavali tomorrow.
Deepavali is a Hindu followers festival day which means a day of lights.

The light is a symbol of happiness and joys which the followers believe to offer to gods and please them.
It is one of the most important festival which Hindus celebrated every year.
For me, the most interesting thing of this festival is colors.
The preparation of Deepavali starts two weeks earlier and on the day itself the combination of colors and light make it great.

To all my Hindu friends,
Happy Deepavali!

Pain!!

She says;

SORE THROAT!
And nope, this is not cause by sinus or infection.
I think it has passed that.

I love to talk!
And it doesn’t help that my jobscope requires me to talk as much :p
Not complaining coz I love what I’m doing.

BUT the vocal hoarseness is just too painful at times.

I’m aware of the importance of rest, hydrating the throat by 8-10 glasses of water.
But what else??

I was surfing online last night and one of the vocal tips is to NEVER WHISPER!!??
It is mentioned that this is about the worst possible thing you can ever do as it grates the cords together like sand paper and this is terrible for your voice!
Did you know that?

And to sooth or comfort your throat, do these;

Natural Throat Coat/ Throat Soother-Comforter
  • Any kind of Tea you like
  • Add 1 Tablespoon Honey (or as much or as little as you like)
  • Dash of Lemon Juice
Or in short, go enjoy your lemon tea with honey...
Oh well, BACK TO WORK.....hehe J

Hungry!

She says;

It has been a while since I last blogged.
I guess it is also due to the fact that I’m living in a fast pace environment that time seemed to just fly.....

Remember my post on exercising/running back in July?
I haven’t been running since! :p
I have so many reasons to give!!
In August was busy with the fasting mth and I consoled myself saying that well,
I did lose 2-3kg and I was happy.
Then September came and slowly the weight starts to pile on...and now it’s already OCTOBER!!

I know, I should start on my workout regime again! J
I am aware and I will!

But apart from that, I chance upon an article online and found ways to lose lbs and I find interesting. I mean apart from working out, you gotta eat right but there’s more to eating...hehe..

I am not one to go on crazy diet but I can make adjustments to the food that I eat.
Anyways, the article that I was reading was not just talkin abt the food that you should eat but HOW you should eat your food.

Eat slowly, and you can lose weight permanently.
I try not to rush my meals but really sometimes, you just don’t have the time....
Also, you love your food and cannot control the urge to eat as fast as ever.
Hahahaha...

It is said that THIN people eat slowly in general.
It takes anything up to 20 minutes for the brain to recognize the feeling of satiation after eating before your body is cognizant of this fact.
This means that when your stomach is full, your brain has not yet told you about this fact. You will continue to eat which is not only a bad habit but is also likely to see you consume an extra 100 to 200 calories per meal.
That is not a good habit to continue.
Instead of enjoying the food, learn to enjoy EATING.
Take the time you need to fully enjoy and eat your food.
Try to eat things that have a wholesome flavour or interesting textures, looks and smells. Food can be exciting if you want it to be.
Then you enjoy the process of eating rather than the quick satiety you previously desired. Before long you will become accustomed to this new way of thinking and, therefore, the new way of eating.
There are ways you can eat more slowly.
First, tell yourself you are going to do it.
Make the effort and don't expect to finish before others.
Chat and talk while you are eating.
Chew your food for longer and put your knife and fork down whilst you are chewing.
Eat slowly, lose weight more quickly.
Time for lunch! J

The day after....

I had a good run last night.
Running is a great way to get yourself in shape.
(yeah! psyching myself up!!!)
It speeds up your metabolism,
tones and firms your body and aids in your digestive system.
Once you start you will not want to stop...hehehe...
There is a certain rush that you get from running that occurs after
you get through the initial feeling of exhaustion after a run.
Once that feeling settles, I usually experience an increase in my energy level and a boost in my spirit.

Another plus for those who run, I guess is that it improves your mental status.
If you notice that you are a little depressed running will help to eliminate this feeling.
Seriously!

The reason that running helps with depression is clear
coz it controls hormone levels in the body that regulate our mood.
Running helps to keep our mood upbeat and positive while relieving our stress and anxiety.
You may be sore when you first begin running, but with time you will feel an improvement in your body.

I am lucky that I was able to convince my colleague, Queenie to run with me.
Even though we don't really talk to each other while running...hehehe,
it is still nice to have someone along.
It is safer too.

I am starting to set little goals.
Every time you reach the next goal, keep it up for a few days
until it begins to get easier and then boost your goal up another notch.
There is something exciting in reaching each new accomplishment.

For the sore muscles.......REMEMBER TO STRETCH AND COOL DOWN!!
Till the next run.....bye!

will be ok!

Monday BLUES!!

Just ask anyone about what he or she has planned for Monday,
and he or she will be heaving a dreadful sigh and go 'Monday blues again...'
Hehehe...I am no exception.
I do too...or I used to be like that.
But it’s not really coz I don’t want to go to work,
it’s the ironing of my clothes the night before that makes it ...arrghh.. :p

Monday,
the day of the week that majority would never look forward to.
It is probably because of the fact that Monday comes after Sunday,
the day when we all relax or hang out with family and friends.
Physically, one would feel lethargic and less energetic the following day after
a whole day of relaxation the day before, knowing that he or she has to get on the feet to work
or school and start cracking his or her brain again.

But then again, how long am I going to put up with these Monday blues?
Am I going to hate Mondays for the rest of my life?
Monday is actually just like any other day of the week that I should not dread.
There is something about Monday that can bring sparkles to your life,
if you set yourself to believe so.

It is all in the mind! :p
It’s true!! (my sweetheart taught me this!)
Do not let psychology control you.
You should take control of your psychology.
So lets get our psychological self get back on track,
forget about what makes you detest Mondays
and focus on the joy that Mondays can bring upon you.
Here are some of my ways of having a more positive perception of Mondays:

Wake Up Early
I usually wake up as early as possible.
That way, you would be able to get yourself prepared for the day,
not only in terms of preparation of clothes and working materials,
but also, mentally and spiritually.
In fact, if you choose to get up late, you may end up being in an adrenaline rush,
resulting in the feeling of being tensed and agitated,
which can possible ruin your entire day.
That would not be a good way to start of your Monday!
So it would work at your advantage if you wake yourself up early
to keep yourself fresh and full of life.

Set A Routine
Set a routine for that you can get the habit of doing.
This will help you start off the week being more prepared and refraining from forgetting some things. On the day before, plan what you would need to prepare and
all you would need to do the next day would be to execute the plan.
Make this a life routine that you can make use of to get you all set,
not just on Monday, but every other day too

Make A Delicious Breakfast
Pamper yourself with a delicious breakfast.
NEVER begin your day with an empty stomach.
You will not be able to think properly and will have to put up with gastric pains that will affect your work performance for the day.

Leave Your Home Early
You woke up early right?
Doesn’t make sense to leave the house late when you’ve already woken up super early! :p
(Actually, I’m kinda guilty on this one!)

This will allow you some time to put up with some unforeseen circumstances that can happen while you are on your way to work or school, such as major traffic jam, accidents, or heavy rain which can slow down traffic or in my case, get super drenched while walking up that damned stairs in the park :p
At least there is still a chance for you to reach your destination punctually,
thus making your day a little less gloomy.

Change Your Daily Route To Work/School
Make changes to the route you take every day.
Viewing the scenery of the same route may become cliché and lead you to boredom throughout the week, especially on a Monday.
So make yourself enjoy your journey to work or school by going to other directions that can still eventually lead you to your destination.

Make An Agenda
At work, give yourself a few minutes to prepare the agenda for the day.
Plunging straight to your tasks would take up all the energy that you need for the entire day, and in turn, you will become exhausted during the later part of the day.
In fact, just focusing directly on your work the moment you reach your workplace may make your entire work become disorganized and will get your mind all tangled up.
Hence, you should set aside a few minutes to 'start your engine'.

Start Your Day With A Fresh Mindset
NEVER kicks start your day with unnecessary mind-disrupting tasks like checking e-mails.
It will just accumulate the amount of stress in you, which will weaken your spirit to get on your feet. Start your day with a fresh mind rather than an occupied mind.
Do you guy agree to the above or have your own tips?
Do share!!!

Note to self:
IF I EVER FELT THE BLUES, LOG ONLINE AND READ ALL THE ABOVE AGAIN!
